ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT
Portage Emergency Services proudly protects
over 20,000 people living in an
area covering approximately 850 square miles. Our Fire Station is
located at 124 3rd Street NE in Portage.
The Department consists of 16 full-time members under the direction of
Fire Chief Phil Carpenter and Deputy Chief Dave Holmes. In addition we are supported by
Administrative Assistant up to 25 part-time fire fighters.
We offer services to both the City and the Rural Municipality of
Portage la Prairie, as well as being a member of the Boyne River
Mutual Aid District.

administers many of the City by-laws including the Fire By-law, Open
Air Fire By-law, Solid Fuel Furnace By-law, Traffic By-law, Animal
Control Services and Parking Meter Services.

Portage
Fire Fighters Social Club:
The Portage Fire Fighters Social Club participates in many annual
activities such as the Fire Fighters Spring Ball and an annual booth at the Portage Fair. Proceeds from
these events and many others are donated to charity.
